Balinese traditional dance and drama is world renowned for its sophistication and richness. The masks take weeks to carve and are then painted with up to forty coats of locally compounded pigments.

These works by master carvers have a wonderful eerie presence. This one was carved by the well-known artist Ida Bagus Ambara.
