Mali
#A-05
Granary door locks from various tribes have interested collectors for a long time. Wooden locks with similar keys are used in the Maghreb (North Africa) also. This lock features an extremely abstracted human figure, possibly an ancestor or diety. In harsh lands like Mali, harvested grain is very precious; thus, supernatural protectors as well as physical locks are utilized.
