Mongolian Buddhist Jambhala Statue
Mongolia
#S-21
An exquisite and rare figure of Jambhala, the deity of wealth, widely invoked in Tibetan and Mongolian Vajrayana practices. This gilt bronze image is consecrated - the copper seal plate on the bottom is still intact. Because of that, we would prefer to sell this piece to Buddhist practitioners. It is highly unusual to find intact blessed images in Mongolia as the Soviets destroyed and looted much of Mongolia's Buddhist and shamanist heritage, both of which are being restored with great determination by the Mongolians today. This Jambhala shows the superb workmanship typical of the Mongol Buddhist master craftsmen.
