A Sando divination figure collected in the early 1960's. These are kept with diviner's implements and act as ancestral witnesses to sacred rituals. Divinations of many kinds are found all over Africa, and are usually performed by specialists. This very fine example of Senufo sculpture shows traces of animal sacrificial offerings.
