Dayak Hudok Mask from Borneo
Indonesia#MH-18
Hudok masks represent a protective spirit that chases vermin out of planted fields. The Dayaks, living in dense equatorial forests, constantly use sinuous twining motifs from their environment in their decorative arts. Although the Dayaks have been heavily missionized, many groups still preserve ancestral rituals. This mask is made of carved painted wood, aluminum and brass rings.
